Established 1935 as trust for playing fields in memory of King George V. Occupied during WWII as forced labour camp. Re-established 1948 for community use. Major clubhouse renovations completed 2020.

Founded 1936 in memory of King George V. Officially opened by the Lieutenant Governor on 31 August 1939. Requisitioned during WWII German occupation (1940-1945) and used as Lager Ute prisoner camp. Restored post-war with cricket resuming 1949. Princess Anne opened new facilities on 3 May 1986. 3G pitch completed as part of £3.5m regeneration. Major clubhouse improvements completed 2020.

KGV Playing Fields (King George V Playing Fields) is a not-for-profit sports facility and community centre in the Castel parish, operated by the registered charity Friends of KGV Limited. Established in 1935 in memory of King George V, it offers a full-size FA-certified 3G artificial pitch, grass pitches, outdoor cricket nets, a three-storey clubhouse, sports bar, hireable community rooms, a KGV Lottery Club, and a 1km nature trail. —
