Story
Originally a farm on marshland at the edge of Le Braye du Valle (the inland sea that once split Guernsey in two). Brick kilns built c.1892 as part of Guernsey's brick and pot-making industry. The Dorey family worked and owned the farm for most of the 20th century. In 1981 Tony Raix obtained planning permission to convert to a tourist attraction. Acquired by Chris Coles (FB Limited), Ravenscroft, and Bailiwick Investments in summer 2015 and comprehensively refurbished. Oaty & Joey's playbarn opened January 2019.
Oatlands Village is a family leisure attraction and shopping village in St Sampson, built around three restored Victorian brick kilns (c. 1892) and opened in 1983. The complex includes craft and gift shops, an 18-hole mini-golf course, bowling, trampolines, e-cars, and the Oaty & Joey's indoor playbarn. Dining options include The Kiln restaurant and Oaty's Diner, with specialist tenants including a chocolatier, jeweller, beauty salon, and cycle retailer. —
