Story

Proposed 1936, construction began 1938, halted during WWII German occupation of the Channel Islands, resumed 1946, dam sealed January 1947 and reservoir full to overflowing by April 1947. Originally flooded St Saviour's Valley to create a 1,090 megalitre reservoir.

St Saviour's Reservoir is a freshwater reservoir and nature reserve, built in 1947. Holding 1,090 megalitres, it is managed by Guernsey Water. The site features The Millennium Walk, a 3km easy circular trail opened in 2001, an outdoor learning area, a water refill station, and school educational talks on water treatment. Dogs are welcome on leads; no cycling, swimming, or horse riding permitted. —
