Founded September 1993 as The Karen Dempsey School of Dance by Karen Thompson. Operated as KD Dance Ltd & KD Theatre Stars. In August 2020, founder Karen Thompson passed leadership to former student Kirsty, who rebranded as Starlight Dance Academy. Previously based at Capelles Community Centre (St Sampson), now operates from St Martin's.

Starlight Dance Academy is a family-focused dance school in St Martin, founded in 1993 as The Karen Dempsey School of Dance and rebranded in 2020 when current principal Miss Kirsty took over. The academy offers classes from 18 months to adults in ten disciplines — including Ballet, Tap, Contemporary, Acro, Modern, Greek, National, Commercial, Body Conditioning, and Performance & Singing — across two St Martin venues. It also runs summer schools, dance festivals, and competition preparation. —
