Vale
Vale was once two parishes, which is why it has 16 Douzeniers instead of the standard 12. The Douzaine system dates to medieval times.
Vale Douzaine is the elected parish council for the Parish of Vale, one of Guernsey's ten civil administrative districts. Its 16 Douzeniers and 2 Constables, with the higher Douzenier count reflecting Vale's origins as two historically separate parishes. Responsibilities include parish rates collection, cemetery management, moorings, refuse, liquor licences, hedge and stream inspections, and emergency planning. The Douzaine Room on Maraitaine Road is available for hire for community functions. —
