Story
In March 2005 the States of Guernsey passed a Requête committing the Bailiwick to supporting Fairtrade. Over 100 local businesses signed up, leading to Fairtrade Island Status in March 2006.
Fairtrade Guernsey is a registered charity (number 453) established in 2005 to promote Fairtrade awareness and increase availability of Fairtrade-certified products. It runs the Fairtrade Workplaces, Schools, and Community Supporters programmes, and organises Fairtrade Fortnight events and awareness campaigns. The organisation holds Fairtrade Island Status, first awarded in March 2006 following a States Requête, and renewed in 2024 for a further three years. —
