The mutual fire insurance society was established on 16 October 1822. The holding company was incorporated on 12 May 2000. In 2025 the insurance society rebranded as LFM Home Insurance. Orion Insurance Management (founded 1973 by John and Valerie Wills) is the appointed manager. When Guernsey Alliance Insurance Society ceased operations in 2005, Orion absorbed its business, merging approximately 700 policies into La Fraternelle by December 2015.

La Fraternelle Holdings Limited is a Guernsey-registered holding company (incorporated 2000, no. CMP36811) and parent of La Fraternelle Mutual Fire Insurance Society, which rebranded as LFM Home Insurance in 2025. The mutual society, established in 1822, provides home insurance across the Bailiwick of Guernsey and is regulated by the GFSC. Day-to-day management is provided by Orion Insurance Management from Esplanade House, St Peter Port. —
