Story

Originally built as a magazine for the adjacent gun battery to defend Moulin Huet from Napoleonic invasion. Converted to a popular tearoom in the late 19th century, frequented by Victor Hugo and his family. Featured in Renoir's 1883 painting 'Fog on Guernsey'. Fell into ruins and was restored by Nik Le Page. Featured on Channel 4's 'Great British Home Restoration' in October 2024.

Renoir Cottage is a one-bedroom self-catering holiday cottage in St Martin, above Moulin Huet Bay. Originally built in 1780 as a magazine for a Napoleonic-era gun battery, it became a tearoom visited by Victor Hugo's family and features in Renoir's 1883 painting 'Fog on Guernsey'. Restored from ruins by Nik Le Page and featured on Channel 4's Great British Home Restoration in October 2024. Certified for dark sky watching and walking; minimum two-night stay. —
