Story

Part of the archway collapsed around 2013 due to water penetrating old clay during an exceptionally wet period. Restoration planned using traditional methods with all stones numbered for precise reassembly.

Les Blanc Bois Archway is a double arch built in the second half of the 17th century from Jersey stone and designated a Protected Monument. The larger arch served horse-drawn transport; the smaller, pedestrians. The structure marks the entrance to the Blanc Bois estate, with a history traceable to 1481. Gifted to the National Trust of Guernsey in 2003, it is a rare surviving example of a status-displaying estate archway, freely accessible as an open-air roadside monument. —
