Story

First lifeboat placed on Guernsey in 1803 at St Sampson. RNLI took over management in 1861. Station moved to St Peter Port in 1881. Over 1,500 launches and 600+ lives saved. Station has received 2 RNLI Gold Medals, 14 Silver Medals, and 15 Bronze Medals. Harold Hobbs, son of the Coxswain, was killed by German aircraft strafing in June 1940 during WWII.

St Peter Port Lifeboat Station is Guernsey's RNLI lifeboat station, established 1803 and operated as a branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. Based at St Julian's Emplacement in St Peter Port, its all-volunteer crew runs the Severn-class all-weather lifeboat Spirit of Guernsey and the Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat Harold Hobbs, covering the Bay of Saint Malo and English Channel shipping lanes. With over 1,500 launches and 600+ lives saved, the station holds two RNLI Gold Medals, the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service 2021, and foreign gallantry awards.
